Location
Launchly uses your phone's GPS sensor solely to calculate your speed during a measurement. The raw GPS log — including coordinates, speed and accuracy per fix — is stored on your device alongside the measurement, so you can analyse a run afterwards. It is never uploaded to our servers. It leaves your phone only if you export or share it yourself.
Motion sensors (IMU)
The accelerometer and gyroscope are used to improve timing accuracy between GPS fixes. The resulting speed curve is stored on your device with the measurement and is included when you export a run yourself. This data is never uploaded to our servers.
Account data
If you sign in with Google or with Apple, Launchly receives your name, email address and profile photo from that provider. Your Firebase user ID (UID) is stored in our database to check whether you are entitled to PRO access. The core app works without an account.
Friends leaderboard
Only after you explicitly consent in the app, we store: your display name, a link to your profile photo, your chosen username, your invite code, and — only for the times you choose to share — your best sprint times with the car name and date. This is visible only to friends you have accepted, never to strangers and never publicly. If you have not set a profile name, the part of your email address before the @ is used as your display name.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications, a push token is stored for each of your devices, together with your app language, so that notifications can reach you. These tokens are removed when you sign out or delete your account.
Local storage
Measurement results, car profiles (name, license plate, photo) and settings are stored only on your device. This data is not synchronised with a server.
License plate lookup
If you look up a car by license plate, that plate is sent to the Dutch vehicle registry (RDW) open data service to retrieve the vehicle details. It is not sent anywhere else. Adding a car manually, without a lookup, keeps everything on your device.
Purchases
If you buy PRO, RevenueCat processes the purchase. RevenueCat receives an anonymous purchase identifier from the Apple App Store or Google Play, along with basic device information. Launchly only receives confirmation that a valid purchase exists; payment details never reach us.
Abuse protection
When the app starts, Firebase App Check verifies that the request comes from a genuine installation of Launchly. This protects our backend from abuse and happens whether or not you are signed in.
We do not share your data with advertisers or other commercial parties. The only third parties involved are:
Your Firebase account, UID and leaderboard profile are kept for as long as your account is active. Local measurements and cars are yours to manage — you can delete them in the app at any time. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete my account) immediately and permanently removes your profile, friendships, shared times and push tokens.
Connections to Firebase use HTTPS/TLS. The Firestore database is protected by access rules so that users can only read or modify their own data.
